26.a

For the conduct and management of the elections for the European Parliament, the elections for the National Council, the election of the Federal President and for popular referenda as well as for the participation in the scrutiny of popular initiatives and plebiscites elections boards are to be established before every election to the National Council. These shall include attached assessors with voting rights as representatives of the participating political parties, moreover at the Federal electoral offices, the assessors shall include members who belong or have belonged to the judicial establishment; the number of these assessors is to be established in the electoral code for the National Council. Aside from the assessors who come from the judicial establishment, the members are to be distributed to the participant political parties according to the strength ascertained by the last election to the National Council. Participating parties represented in the last elected National Council which accordingly would not be entitled to appoint any assessors, do, however, have the right to put forward an assessor for the national election board.
