Chapter CHAPTER II The limitation and control of election expenses for parliamentary and provincial elections

§ 1. The sum of total expenditure and the financial commitments related to the election propaganda of political parties at state and constituency level shall not exceed 50 million francs in respect of the set of elections held for the Chamber of Representatives, the Senate and Provincial Councils¬.
§ 2. The sum of total expenditure and financial commitments related to the election propaganda of candidates in respect of elections to the Chamber of Representatives and the Senate shall not exceed:
1. for each of the candidates placed at the top of the list according to the number of seats obtained by their list at the preceding election and for one additional active candidate to be nominated by the political party: 500,000 francs plus 2 francs per voter registered for the previous legislative elections in the electoral district in which the candidate is presented;
2. for each other active candidate and the first alternate candidate: 200,000 francs;
3. for each additional alternate candidate: 50,000 francs.
§ 3. The sum of total expenditure and financial commitments ¬related to the election propaganda of selected candidates in respect of provincial elections shall not exceed:
1. for each of the candidates placed at the top of the list according to the number of seats obtained by their list at the most recent election and per additional active candidate to be nominated by the political party: 125,000 francs plus 2 francs per voter registered for the previous provincial elections ¬in the electoral district in which the candidate is presented¬;
2. for every other candidate: 50,000 francs.
§ 4. The amounts stipulated in paragraphs 1 to 3 are to be reviewed in line with changes in the production costs of advertising media used in election campaigns according to a formula determined by royal decree deliberated at the Council of Ministers.
