This Act shall enter into force on 1 January 2007. The Act's provisions governing primary elections, however, will not enter into force until 1 June 2007.
At the same time, subparagraph 1, Article 1 of Act no. 62/1978, on the banning of financial support from foreign entities to Icelandic political organisations and foreign embassy newspaper publishing, and Act no. 56/1971, on expert assistance to political organisations, are repealed.
