Article

1

(1) The existence and variety of political parties are substantial and integral parts of democratic order in the Republic of Austria (Article 1 of the Federal Law on the Constitution).
(2) To the assignments of political parties is also added their participation in the formation of political will.
(3) The founding of political parties is free, unless otherwise provided for under the Federal Law on the Constitution. Their activity should not be restricted by special legal provisions.
(4) Political parties are to adopt statute that must be promulgated in a periodical and submitted to the Federal Ministry of Interior. In particular, in the statute are to be specified their bodies, and their representatives before any third parties, as well as the rights and obligations of the members thereof. By submitting its statute, the political party acquires juridical personality.
